Course Description:
The course is designed to give candidates a basic understanding of types of fires, methods of extinguishing them and the onboard firefighting equipment. Candidates are introduced to basic equipment maintenance, the use of breathing apparatus and search and rescue techniques as well as live firefighting. The purpose-built Fire Training Centre, together with teaching staff whose experience of the Military, Merchant Navy and Fire and Rescue Service procedures, ensures a realistic and testing course, in a controlled environment.
Culminating in assessed firefighting and search and rescue scenarios, successful candidates will be equipped to operate under pressure and as part of a shipboard firefighting team.

Course Description:
This four-day course builds on basic fire knowledge, awareness and safety procedures on board. It includes elements of command and control together with the importance of stability and ship integrity. The course is structured around a number of practical searches, rescue techniques, casualty evacuation practices and live fire exercises.
Culminating in assessed firefighting and search and rescue scenarios, successful candidates will be equipped to lead and manage shipboard firefighting teams.
